  Fiber-optic is a synthetic man made material used for fiber-optic cables, the material used to cut jewelry is very similar to the original. It can be cut into various shapes and exhibits " chatoyancy" on two axis. Chatoyancy is the fiber phenomena cause by light entering a fibrous material. When light strikes the stone at a right angle to the fiber it is reflected back in a wave forming a bright line on the surface known as a cats eye.
