Different types of police lights are necessary for visibility and invisibility
Police lights powered by strobe kits, or lights that can be temporarily mounted on deck, dash, or visor, help police to remain invisible when situation demands. Not just police lights, but all daily use lights are used by people to appear invisible or visible, as they prefer. Someone watching a street brouhaha cautiously from his home would switch off his own light to make himself undetectable before peeping out through the window. But the same person, while walking on a road which has no street light, will choose to make himself conspicuous by flashing a torch light.
The difference between casual activities and police duties being what they are, the role that lights play in balancing the visible-invisible equation is far greater. A police light is an important tool that helps in crime control by making a policeman obscure or obvious as the occasion demands. A police vehicle sporting lights is the most visible object on a crowded street at night.

Modern police lights incorporating advanced technology even have the provision for temporarily disorienting the culprit by the use of psychedelic colors.
However, remaining invisible by switching off their vehicle lights, is as important for policemen as keeping themselves visible. Detection of more complicated crimes and chasing of hardened criminals are done by undercover operations and making themselves invisible is very important for the police force during such operations. The police cannot afford to use the bright and conspicuous police light bars during such chases. One type of light that lends well to such emergencies is a strobe kit. Strobe lights can be hidden into any of the regular lights of an emergency vehicle and activated to work when there is a sudden requirement. As part of the vehicle taillights or headlights, the bulb of a strobe kit is perfectly invisible and so it is the right type of police light that comes in handy during undercover operations.
Other police lights, which can help in making the police alternatively visible and invisible, according to requirement, are lights that can be temporarily mounted on the deck, dash, or visor. These lights come with magnetic mounts or adhesive cups or L brackets with which they can be attached and detached and activated when necessary. Detachable lights are available in different intensities and with various control mechanisms. These police lights help police to change from a low profile to high profile instantly to take control of a situation or to help in the execution of a command.
